SUMMARY:December First Fridays with the Iowa Center
DESCRIPTION:On the first Friday of every month\, join us to hear the savvy\, successful business owners + entrepreneurs of Des Moines share their story. In a laid-back environment\, you'll catch some words of wisdom from women + men who have been through it before and maybe walk away with a new connection (or two).\n\n\n\nSessions are completely free and open to the public\, and are held from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm\, with networking from 11:30 am to noon. This First Friday will be held at The Greater Des Moines Partnership\, 700 Locust Street\, Ste 100\, Des Moines\, IA 50309. Seating is first come\, first served. Lunch is not provided\, though we encourage you to bring your own if you'd like. \n\n \n\nAbout Our Speaker\nAmy Doyle is a licensed attorney and member of The Iowa State Bar Association\, who has called Des Moines home for the past 16 years. As an attorney\, Amy has practiced law in a wide variety of fields over the past decade. She began her career in private practice with Iowa's only consumer protection law firm and then later joined the Principal Financial Group\, where she focused on corporate securities law compliance. She then moved to Aviva\, an international insurer\, where she expanded her skillset by working on fraud\, anti-money laundering and privacy law. When Aviva went through an ownership change\, Amy decided to leave corporate law and utilize her talents in the non-profit sector. She took a leadership position at EMBARC\, Iowa's only Ethnic Community Based Organization (ECBO) where she specialized in immigration law and helped build operational efficiencies into the organization's program development initiatives. Amy's broad foundation in various fields of law gives her significant experience in evaluating diverse issues and providing counsel on how best to manage risk and navigate within complex legal and regulatory environments. She holds a B.A. in English Literature from Iowa State University and a J.D. from Drake Law School.\n\n\n\nAmy is the CEO of Emory Dry Ice\, a dry ice blasting services start-up headquartered in Des Moines\, IA. Dry ice blasting is a new\, environmentally-friendly cleaning technology\, capable of incredible range and precision\, that creates zero secondary waste\, unlike traditional media blasting options. Emory is proud to be 66.75% women-owned\, and a Certified Women-Owned Small Business. \n\n\n\nPlease join us to hear this amazing women business owner\, active community member\, and friend to many\, share her entrepreneurial story!
