New marketplace opens just three months after Painted Tree's closure, creating new opportunities for independent retailers and artisans while welcoming shoppers back to a familiar destination.

CLIVE, Iowa (July 27, 2026) – More than 100 independent businesses will once again have a place to call home when Eleven101 Collective opens its doors for a soft opening on Thursday, July 30, just three months after the unexpected closure of Painted Tree displaced hundreds of entrepreneurs. Located at 11101 University Avenue in Clive, next to PetSmart and Outback Steakhouse, the new marketplace represents a fresh beginning for
makers, artists, retailers and shoppers alike.

Occupying more than 35,000 square feet, Eleven101 Collective transforms the former Painted Tree location into a vibrant marketplace designed to celebrate creativity, entrepreneurship and community. The majority of the previous marketplace's vendors have already committed to returning and are currently moving into their new spaces or finalizing vendor agreements. As boutiques continue to open in the coming weeks, shoppers can expect the marketplace to grow while welcoming both familiar favorites and new independent businesses.

Created by Knapp Properties, Eleven101 Collective was born from a desire to help independent business owners quickly regain a place to grow after losing an important sales channel.

"When Painted Tree closed, we saw hundreds of entrepreneurs suddenly lose an important part of their business overnight," said Chris Costa, CEO of Knapp Properties. "We knew we couldn't simply sit back and watch that happen. Our team has worked around the clock over the past three months to reopen these doors as quickly as possible so these small business owners could get back to doing what they love. While there's still more work ahead, helping these entrepreneurs get back to serving customers and earning income again has always been our number one priority."

Knapp Properties retained much of the store's experienced management team and staff while welcoming back many of the vendors shoppers already know and love. At the same time, Eleven101 Collective is actively welcoming new makers, artisans and retailers to further expand the marketplace and create an even more dynamic shopping experience.

The marketplace also represents an investment in the region's entrepreneurial community by creating opportunities for independent businesses to grow, supporting local jobs and giving shoppers a destination where every purchase directly supports a small business.

While preserving many of the features shoppers appreciated, Knapp Properties has already invested in improvements including a remodeled customer restroom, a new point of sale system and operational enhancements throughout the store. Additional branding, signage and custom design elements will continue to be introduced over the coming months as Eleven101 Collective establishes its own identity.

The name Eleven101 Collective is a nod to the marketplace's home at 11101 University Avenue.

"Leave it to a real estate company to keep the name simple and use the address," Costa said. "The word 'Collective' is really what defines who we are. It's about bringing together independent businesses, creative entrepreneurs and the community under one roof."

The community is invited to shop, explore and support independent businesses during the soft opening on Thursday, July 30, and Friday, July 31, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day. Guests will be among the first to explore the new marketplace as additional boutiques and enhancements continue to be introduced in the weeks ahead.
