West Suburban Post Office Drop Box Vandalized, Mail Stolen

CLIVE, Iowa – On the morning of December 16, 2024, the Clive Police Department
received a report that the mail drop box at the West Suburban Post Office, 2135 NW
108th Street, Clive, had been vandalized. The door to the box had been opened and the
contents removed.

This theft would have occurred between 5:30 p.m. on December 15, when mail was last
removed, and 7 a.m. on the morning of December 16, when employees reported for
work.

There are no suspects currently, however, police continue to investigate in partnership
with the United States Postal Inspectors. We are following up with local businesses to
review video footage.

If you deposited mail in that box between 5:30 pm on December 15 and 7 am on
December 16, it is suggested that you follow up with the mail’s addressee to limit your
exposure to fraud or theft. If you suspect your mail was stolen, please e-mail the Clive
Police at askthepolice@cityofclive.com and give your name, address, and phone
number, and an officer or detective will contact you.

If you have any information on this case, we ask you to contact Clive Police Department
at 515-222-3321 and ask to speak to a detective. Theft or possession of stolen mail is a
federal offense punishable by a $250,000 fine and five years in Federal Prison.

Inspector is assisting the Clive Police Department in this investigation.
